Three Pieces of Art, Two Walls

Finding the Right Piece of Art

It’s often a challenge picking out art for your home. You head out to local galleries or attend art festivals in search of the perfect piece–the one that speaks to you, the one that is the right size, the one that will be just perfect for your space.  When you see it, you know. You just know. But then you wonder. Will it really be perfect? Is that size too small? Or maybe it’s too large. Now all of a sudden the joy of finding the right piece becomes a little painful.

Not to worry! I have a solution for you. Why not see what that piece of art will look like in your room before you commit to buying?

Here are a couple of examples of my art placed into two rooms. In the first one, I have taken two pieces of art on paper that have been matted and then added a fake black frame to see how it would look. These are 24×18″ pieces of art matted to fit a standard 28×22″ frame. I think they look awesome!

In this second example, I have added a 30×40″ piece of art on canvas to this dining room. It’s presence really fills the space nicely!

If you’d like to see how these–or any of my artwork–would look in your space, just send me a photo of the room (preferably straight view) and let me know which of my pieces of art interest you. I’ll add the art to the room and then you can decide (without guessing!) if it’s the right piece for you and your space.

Special

As a member of my mailing list, I am offering a special discount on the three pieces of art featured here.

The two on paper with the fake frame are 24×18″ with matting to fit a standard 28×22″ frame. Regularly $265, now $240 each. The frame is not included. The one on the left is titled “Fanning the Flames” and the one on the right is titled “Remember to Call Me”.

The one pictured in the dining room is 30x40x1.5″ on canvas. The colors wrap around the sides. Regularly $925, now $725.

I offer free shipping in the US and discounted shipping internationally.

Collecting art is an adventure. Go out and enjoy soaking up the beauty of art while finding that perfect piece for you and your home!

What I Love Most About Winthrop

My husband and I have been coming to Winthrop, WA (East of Seattle–four hour drive) for the past 9 years to go cross country skiing. It’s a small community where there are no stop lights and and most of the locals know just about everyone.

We decided to build a home and spend most of our days here. Although I live mostly in California right now, I come to Winthrop about every two months for about two weeks. During this visit we had a lot of house projects to do. We’re in the final stages of completing the home, however, it has been livable for some time.

We stained our trim and windows. Then we moved on to painting all the non-wood doors. These are not hollow doors, oh no! They are solid and extremely heavy. I got my workout.

But, we did find time to play. On our way to town on our bikes, these beautiful horses approached us while riding the trail.

There was also time to paint.

And, even time to stop and take pictures of the wild flowers.

My bags are now packed and I’m heading to California again while my handsome husband continues to work on our new home and work his day job, too. I will miss him so much!

So, what is it that I love most about Winthrop? All of the above!

Hugs,

Betty

What I Love Most About Winthrop

Beaches, Water & Coast Line

Happy Sunday!

It’s a day of relaxation, so I’ll keep this one short and sweet. Yesterday I worked on several pieces on paper and on canvas. I’m getting ready for another art festival in Morro Bay, CA at the beginning of July. I’m creating art on paper to replenish my stock from the last art festival.

I took a break from those pieces to create this cute little one. These are not colors that I usually put together (I was using up what was on my palette). They remind me of beaches, water, and coast line. Wish I was a bird soaring above it all, taking it all in.

“Flying High” is 8×5 inches on paper with acrylics and pencils.

Flying High

Wishing you a great day and a wonderful, creative week!

Hugs,

Betty

What if This is All You Need?

The Struggle

I really struggled with this one. When I work on two at the same time, I go back and forth, but at some point I usually end up spending more time on one than the other. Well, that’s what happened here. This poor guy was left on the side because I didn’t know where to go next.

Here’s a progress pic after many layers:

Getting Bold

It was looking okay, but just not where I wanted it to be yet. So, that meant being a little bold and adding shapes and colors and marks to give it more interest, more oomph.  I think I did it. It took some time and telling myself to just go for it. Definitely good advice!

Here are some detail pics:

Here’s the final piece:

It’s All I Need

I named it “it’s all I need” when I finished. Truly, if I can paint like this every day and feel happy…even giddy, then it’s all I need.  I used 12×9 inch watercolor paper with acrylics and pencils. Like my offer yesterday and to thank you for following my art journey, I’m reducing this one to $85 (regularly $115). And, I’m offering free shipping anywhere in the world. Just reply to this email if you’re interested.

I grew up in a home where every Saturday (after morning cartoons) was housecleaning day. Vacuum, change bed sheets, clean bathrooms, wash floors. I still do all those things….just not on Saturday!  I hope that your Saturday is spent doing something creative!

Hugs,

Betty

What if This is All You Need?

Who Doesn’t Want a Summer Romance?

Thank  You

I want to start by saying that I appreciate you following my art journey. If you just recently found me, then you probably have a love for abstract art. If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know I’ve had several different styles of work in the past 5 years.  I continue to evolve and learn and follow my passion.

New Series

I’m starting a new series on paper that will keep me creative on a regular basis. They will be abstract pieces that explore my favorite processes for creating and I’ll be trying out new ones. Most will have a build up of layers with mark making and scratching into the surface, which adds lots of texture. They’ll be different color combinations on different sizes of paper.

I will say that the one thing they will all have in common is that I will only offer these through my newsletter. It’s my way of thanking you for signing up with me! And, I have always believed that art should be accessible and affordable.

I worked on two of these at the same time. They are 12×9” on watercolor paper and I was able to complete one of them. Here are a few work in progress pics (detail).

Here’s the final piece! I’m in love with these colors all playing nice together.
The orange next to the pink next to the blue just makes my heart sing!

Just for You

“Summer Romance” is 12×9 inches on watercolor paper with acrylics and pencils for a special price of $85 (normally $115). I’m offering free shipping worldwide. My signature will be on the bottom left in pencil (it wasn’t dry enough for me to sign it when I took the picture). Let me know if you’re interested by responding to this email.

Look for more of these types of newsletters with my latest work. Thank you again for following my art adventures!

Hugs,

Betty
